Zander on his work:
“To create is to embrace existence. The act of painting hides around every corner, lurking under the dust, floating between the lines of the banal. As much as I may try to evade the impending responsibility of creating work, the duty follows me wherever I go, beckoning me to dive deeper and explore beyond what I have explored thus far. This self imposed allegiance was wrought upon my by my own doing when I first witnessed the beauty that can be crafted by human hands.
My work continues to be an abstract representation of spirit, impulse and power. A sometimes humorous, often composition based reflection on the paradoxical nature of human emotion, and the unavoidable onslaught of decisions we deal with in every passing moment. Between the chaos there always rests a feeling of peace - sitting, and waiting to be had. I use color, contrast, and composition to create a sense of balance that treads through the chaos.”
